Protos Seleccion Grajo Viejo Red 2018 0.75L

The "Finca El Grajo Viejo" (old vineyard), is strategically located at the foot of the Manvirgo hill between Anguix & Roa, at an altitude of 815 meters and facing south. The Seleccion El Grajo Viejo (single vineyard) is the cream of Protos wines. Produced from 100% Tinta del Pais from a single 70 year old vineyard. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in 500 liter French barrels at a controlled temperature and is then left to mature for 18 months in new French barrels and 12 months in the bottles.

It has a deep purple color with purple hues and is an elegant wine, with good aromatic range and great complexity. More specifically, the aromatic bouquet consists of extremely ripe black fruits, mocha, spices and finally some balsamic and mineral notes. In the mouth it is delicious full bodied but with fine and elegant tannins, with the acidity of the vines grown on poor land bringing the balance. Long, pleasant, slightly salty and persistent finish and great aging potential due to its structured tannins and noble acidity. Enjoy it with roast pork, red meat, chorizos, foie gras and mature cheeses.

This wine comes from young vineyards that are cultivated organically from planting and are accredited by the competent bodies, in gravelly soils of the region. Its color is straw yellow with greenish shades characteristic of the variety. The nose is medium to high, fresh but with less complexity than traditional Verdejo. The taste is dry, round and structured thanks to two months of aging on fine lees. It combines perfectly with white fish, tuna, pasta, Asian food, chicken, fresh or blue cheeses.

Protos Verdejo Rueda wine is special. Its color is clean, clear and bright yellow with greenish highlights. On the nose it is honest, direct and encapsulates the characteristics of the variety from which it is composed. The stone fruit elements are very present, where the peach and loquat aromas are the most strongly expressed. It is a wine with very good aromatic power and a pleasant mouthfeel. Quinta do Noval 2007 Colheita has a lovely amber color with more dark tawny core. It is very intense and concentrated on the nose and presents a harmonious and rich blend of aromas. Some citrus notes then appear in combination with their minerality and velvety texture, thus giving a very lively wine that will surprise you!
