Don Papa Baroko originated in the Philippines and at the foot of the active volcano Mt. Kanlaon, an area where the best cane is ground to produce a rich and sweet molasses. Historically, the Philippines has been one of the world's leading sugar cane producers, with the island of Negros or Sugarlandia producing more than half of the country's total production. Don Papa Rum was named after Papa Isio, a true leader who helped the island gain its independence in the 1890s.
