Citadelle Gin was created when the owner of Cognac Ferrand, Alexander Gabriel, was the one who petitioned the cognac council to allow him to use the same vats for gin production. He did this because the AOC legislation allows the production of cognac only 6 months of the year and so the other 6 people were out of work.

With the Citadelle Reserve, Maison Ferrand celebrated the rebirth of the golden gin. What started as a "family" experiment in 2008 and was shared with some "weird" bartenders and friends, has now become a gin sought after by bartenders and consumers for its unique taste profile. Aged gins were forgotten for nearly a century before the creation of the Citadelle Reserve. They will go in different types of barrels for about 5 months and in the end they will go in the same barrel type solera to mix and give us this special gin.
