Gammel Dansk was created to be competitive with other aperitifs in the Danish market. The recipe remains secret untill today and includes over 29 different types of herbs, spices and flowers, such as dill, ginger, anise, Seville oranges and cinnamon, which will be mixed and ripened together for about three months before bottling. Its aromas are intense with the spices dominating, up to its bitter, long-lasting aftertaste.
